Dog Boarding Requirements

Effective as of August 1, 2017, we will be requiring proof of vaccination for canine influenza.

In the meantime, we urge you to talk to your veterinarian about vaccination against the H3N2 influenza which has been confirmed in our area. To protect everyone’s pets we feel it is important to adopt this new policy. Some dogs have been receiving flu vaccines; however, like our flu, it covers the most prevalent strains at the time. There are multiple strains of the virus and multiple vaccinations available, so double check that your dog was vaccinated against H3N2. Also, like most vaccines, it may not be 100% effective, but we feel it is our best option to protect the precious pups in our care. The vaccine is given like many new vaccines in two boosters. One shot followed by another one in a few weeks for maximum effectiveness. Please don’t hesitate to ask us questions, and we definitely encourage discussion with your veterinarian. We appreciate your care, concern, and help as we implement this policy.

Prior to boarding, you must also provide proof of current vaccinations for rabies, distemper, and bordatella. Puppies must be old enough to have had their second distemper series and bordatella. Frequency of vaccinations is based upon your veterinarian’s recommendations. Although it is not required, we strongly recommend the use of a flea and tick preventive, and use them on our own pets due to our location and climate in East Tennessee! Talk to your veterinarian to see which product is best for your pet. If your pet is found to have fleas at check-in time we will treat your pet at your expense, this helps to prevent the spread to any other pets in our care.
